The perceived motion of a stationary floor, resulting in a loss of balance.

Possibly a "visual-vestibular conflict." when the visual system interprets moving patterns as motion, while the vestibular system does not detect corresponding motion cuespic.twitter.com/E8Tn4r2eP6

Anyone who has lost balance or felt motion sick playing VR games knows this is a very real phenomenon.
It took me hours to get my "VR Legs" and be able to play games with smooth locomotion (where a joystick controls the player's movement like most "first person" video games) without feeling ill.
Along with the inner ear (which everyone is already aware of), vision also plays a big role in our sense of balance and movement.
