Christmas Tree Trouble

A typical cat and a typical Christmas tree is a combination that typically spells trouble. You've seen plenty of evidence and experts even have tips to avoid it. It's Simon Tofield's job to illustrate it and make us laugh. In this cartoon, Simon thinks he has the situation covered with a cat-proof tree. He is very wrong. The kitten takes the lead in the annual destruction, while Simon's cat does his best to mitigate the disaster. He ends up taking his share of the blame anyway, and figures that gives him license to make things even worse. Simon should have known better. You can't confront a cat with the most tempting toy ever designed by nature and humans and then expect them to act respectful.
