You realize, of course, that if they HADN'T put that sign there, someone mental nimrod would have tried to sit down, gotten hurt, lawyered up, and come away with a generous settlement. ______________________
Incidentally, Miss C, now there's a topic for a possible post. Nimrod, in the Bible, is described as a son of Cush — and therefore a grandson of Noah – who was a king in the land of Shinar (Mesopotamia) and who was "a mighty hunter before the Lord [and] ... began to be mighty in the earth". [Gen 10:8-9]
So how did the word 'nimrod' come to mean someone who is so inept that they probably have to be reminded every so often that breathing involves inhaling AND exhaling?
Nimrod was a mighty hunter. In a Bugs Bunny cartoon, Bugs called Elmer Fudd a 'nimrod' as an insult, similar to "what a ma-roon" as Elmer was not exactly a good hunter. Kids being kids had no clue who Nimrod was. Thus a nimrod became slang for an idjit. End of story.

I think it's because Nimrod sounds funny and it's close to moron and dimwit.
