Happy Friday, Mark!

Kolo, the dove has vamoosed, but it's not as bad as you might think. I checked the nest; there are no eggs nor broken eggshells. She tried, but never laid any. While I had the stepladder out, I found another nest in another plant, with four tiny white eggs. That mother is a more typical bird, the kind that flies off as soon as I open the door. So now I'm not watering a different plant.

Sometimes you watch a movie and you can't
make up your mind; you hate it because it's
bad, or you like it because it's so bad
it's good. . .

Happy Friday Miss C.

The "Cult of Mithraism Involved Ritual Floor Cleaning" gave me hope of luring a chapter over to visit, but my hopes were dashed reading it. I'm seeking a cult that chews trees and lays clean hardwood floors.

That heartwarming clip is from a programme called First Dates, on Channel 4 in the UK. The whole programme is genuinely lovely. There was a similar one called The Undateables which focused on people who, for one reason or another, couldn't find partners. That was great too.

That link to creating artificial life stopped way short. It's still very much a part of mainstream chemistry, not in a Frankenstein sense but because a) we still don't really know how it happened and b) because it's a significant challenge and that's what science is all about.
