The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Pays Tribute to The Lord of the Rings

The Fellowship of the Ring
, the first of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, was released in the United States on December 19, 2001. That means the trilogy is marking its 20th anniversary this month. In honor of the occasion, Stephen Colbert (who is one of the world's biggest Lord of the Rings fans) and bandleader John Batiste performed a rap song about the trilogy on last night's show. And there were surprise cameos. Yes, those participants included Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, and Viggo Mortensen. They were joined by Method Man, Killer Mike, and Anna Kendrick for good measure. A good time was had by all.

That was INSPIRED! Gosh, has it been 20 years already?

The Lord of the Rings video was stellar, but Stephen's bandleader's name is spelled Jon Batiste, not John Baptiste.
