Mayfield, Kentucky

For all those who asked, yeah, I'm okay. I live in Eastern Kentucky, far away from the devastation of last night's tornadoes. The only damage I have is one panel of siding gone from a storage structure, and some limbs down. Nothing prepared me for the horror of seeing what is left of Mayfield, Kentucky. There will be more than 100 dead in the state when the counting is done, people injured, too, and so many left homeless with nothing. Nobody expects a tornado in December, but the earth is changing quickly.

What time of day did this happen, did they have any warning at all?

With such extensive damage, it seems astonishing that the death toll could be as low as a hundred. Most likely people did have some warning and were able to get to shelter.

Bruce, there were warnings. People were in basements and other designated places. The tornadoes were just too powerful.
