You certainly recognize this house. It's a bungalow, which Americans just see it as a "house." Before the 20th century, you didn't see that many. But once the century began, bungalows were everywhere, and you could even order a kit from Sears to build your own. The style is so ubiquitous and varies so much by now that you can only classify a bungalow by contrasting it with other styles. In Australia that house style is called a "Californian Bungalow". Or just a cal bung.
