Inside a Dog Retirement Home

In 2006, Joe and Sher Polvinale turned their home in Gaithersburg, Maryland, into a pet sanctuary. Joe has since passed away, but Sher continues to run House with a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary, a retirement home for elderly and special needs dogs. These dogs have a permanent and loving home for the rest of their lives. With the help of volunteers, the dogs get proper care and lots of affection. (via Metafilter)
