Reminds me of a story I once heard. A Veggetti is a vegetable spiral slicer that was once very popular. One day someone brought a huge cucumber into the office that they had grown in their garden. One woman said "That is huge! I don't think I could fit that in my Veggetti."
...which lead to lots of 'coughing' and other methods of suppressed laughter.
But it made me think of my parents' spiral slicer. It was a very simple tool. It was a screw with a blade attached perpendicularly, and then a ring at the end of the blade. You put the screw in the end of the cucumber, then put your finger in the ring, and twisted the screw with it. Very simple. Does anyone remember those things?
