Seven Seas Of Rhye

"Seven Seas of Rhye" is Queen's earliest hit song, from 1974. It's one of those songs you instantly recognize even though you don't hear it much anymore. It reminds me of the bass player who introduced me to Queen. I married him more than 20 years later.

Your Ever-lovin' Swamp Thing

RiffTrax, the successor to MST3K, skewered the 1989 movie The Return of Swamp Thing this week. See the original trailer to get a taste of how over-the-top it was. "He's got a grudge, 'cause they turned him to sludge!" Kevin Murphy and The RiffTones (featuring Brian Murphy) were so inspired by the love story between Swamp Thing and Heather Locklear that they wrote a little song about it. You'll find the full lyrics at Metafilter.

The sheep, no doubt, are used to being herded by dogs, but are still a bit confused as to what this inexperienced pup really wants at certain times. The puppy shows a great aptitude for his job! This was recoded at GNM Border Collies. (via Arbroath)

George W Bush Sings "Sunday Bloody Sunday"

Yes, this is old, from 2007, but I am still impressed with the editing. No autotune needed!

Baby Got Class

It’s time for kids to go back to school, and the Holderness Family made a little song about it, to the tune of “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot. Back to school is a hassle, but after a couple of months of dealing with bored and ever-hungry kids, it’s worth the effort. (via Tastefully Offensive)

Voyage Through Time

This video shows the earth's formation, the evolution of species, and the rise of civilizations. It even jumps into the future! What's really notable is that the art was generated by artificial intelligence. The program used was StableDiffusion, which was given 36 prompts to generate the images. If you look closely, you'll see a a few human beings at about :58, during the time of the dinosaurs. Time travelers, or just a glitch? (via Geeks Are Sexy)

Wednesday

Netflix unveiled the first teaser for it new series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, who earns her stripes as the spookiest young teen on TV. The teaser sets up the premise that Wednesday is such a troublemaker that she is sent off to the boarding school where her parents met. Nevermore Academy is a specialized school that resemble Hogwarts for the homicidally-inclined. The eight-episode limited series is executive-produced by Tim Burton, who directed four of the episodes.  This looks like it could be a hit.

Lock Him Up Yesterday!

Randy Rainbow brings us another song parody, this one about the January 6 hearings, to the tune of "Yesterday" by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. While he usually goes with show tunes for his parodies, this one was kind of obvious. When we got to see the outtakes of the former guy's address to the nation after the insurrection, we were kind of puzzled by his admission that "yesterday" was a difficult word for him. That's just the hook that Randy needed! This music video contains NSFW language, including one f-bomb.
