If you ever had a soft spot for a spider named Charlotte, then you'll fall in love with a jumping spider named Violet. She's really cute, once you get over how hairy she is, and those eight eyes. Only two of them are big enough to be noticeable and they look at you with love. Claudia Araceli Reichard is an artist who makes miniatures. She's very allergic to cats and dogs, and she's afraid of spiders. Or was, until she met Violet. At a car wash. She took Violet home, and bonded with her. The jumping spiders in my house are allowed to go about their business unbothered. They really are kinda cute.
It's certainly a cute video, but this kind of anthropomorphisation of animals makes my teeth grind.
My bathroom has a separate water closet, with its own ceiling (stupid 1990's architecture), next to the shower stall. It was annoying because I just knew there was a mountain of dust up that that was hard to reach. So I dragged out a step stool and climbed up to check it out, dust mop in. hand. Where I saw a relatively large jumping spider, who immediately took a defensive stance. I decided not to dust and told her, not to worry, I'd leave her alone. And every morning when I would shower, she's peek over the edge of the water closet room at me. I started calling her Heidi, and this went on for months! She started coming to the edge if I said her name, like in the evening when I went to brush my teeth. It was crazy fun. When she quit showing up, I climbed back up, but couldn't find her, so I hope she found a new place to hide...
