They never burned or hanged witches, only women. Never forget that.
No, not only women. It is a myth that only women were accused of and executed for witchcraft. Several men, Including Reverend George Burroughs and John Proctor, were hanged during the Salem Witch trials in 1692. Giles Corey was was pressed to death because he refused to plead guilty. It is estimated that as many as 25% of those accused and executed for witchcraft in Europe were men. Iceland and Finland actually executed more men than women.
