"Splooting" is a legitimate term for animal behavior. It means the act of lying belly-down and stretching out the limbs. Dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals sploot for a nice stretch or to cool themselves off against the cooler floor or ground. So many squirrels in Texas have started splooting that people are noticing it. These squirrels aren't necessarily dead, or even near death. It's just a technique for cooling their midsection. In other news, it's hot enough out there for people to be surprised at how animals deal with it. (via Fark)
