Gojira

Gojira, the original uncut 1954 Japanese film that started it all. Underwater nuclear testing awakens an ancient monster that attacks Tokyo. The movie was re-edited and released in the US two years later as Godzilla. The 1954 version is more meaningful in its postwar nuclear horror than the Americanized version which emphasized the violence and destruction. I watched the whole thing through today, for the first time in years, and I'm still impressed.
