Amazing Footage of Moths in Slow Motion

Here we get a very good look at seven of the more attractive moth species as they take off flying, recorded at 6000 frames per second. That makes a blink of an eye slow enough on playback that we can easily perceive how marvelous they are. Moths emerge from a cocoon and immediately know how to fly by instinct. The rosy maple moth at the beginning looks as if it could use some practice, which just makes it more endearing. You have to wonder how those gossamer wings can lift such a chunky body, but it doesn't weigh as much as it appears. Ant Lab assures us that all moths were released after filming. (via TYWKIWDBI)
