I almost titled this "Why that tune is stuck in your head." Sea shanties have become a thing on TikTok, particularly the song "Soon May the Wellerman Come." Sea shanties are fun to sing, but singing them well is a different thing. The video sharing platform TikTok makes it easy for people to join in and add their voice. When singer Nathan Evans posted his performance of the Wellerman, many others were inspired to contribute their voices. And the meme took off. I've been following the progression of this sea shanty since it was first posted -- I love it! At the end of the month, I'm doing my own post on it, using this exact same video because I love the headbangin' cat at the end, lol! I just got the sheet music for "The Wellerman" too so I can feed my addiction even more by learning to play it. Just having it as a 24/7 earworm isn't extreme enough for me, I guess.
