Thanks for the post. So many see this as an American "proud" song, due to the chorus and lack of listening/understanding what he singing beyond that. He's getting white hot as he goes on, and I think we're lucky to be alive at the same time to be present for his artistry.

Reminds me of the difference between the record vs performances of Layla, without the politics of this of course.
I don't know when Eric Clapton changed the performance, but Layla really rocked when I saw him in the '70s.
