It's a fact that all the Christmas songs we sing outside of church were introduced in the 1940s and '50s. Since this graph by Randall Munroe at xkcd is about ten years old, Mariah Carey may have blown the theme somewhat with her 1994 song "All I Want for Christmas is You," which you hear more now than in the '90s.
