In this cartoon from Simon's Cat creator Simon Tofield, the kitten encounters a small flock of backyard birds. They are amused to see a cat so small, which causes us to ponder the effect of relative size in the predator-prey relationship. My tomcats are forever dreaming of bagging a river duck from a distance, but when they get close, the ducks just laugh, since they are much bigger than the cats. I suppose the geese and egrets feel the same way.
