Computer Program Removes the Water from Undersea Photographs
Underwater photography almost always has a blue or green tiny because even the clearest water scatters light differently than air. Oceanographer Derya Akkaynak has developed an algorithm she calls Sea-thru that removes the color distortion caused by sea water so that coral, fish, and other object can be seen in their true colors. The technical aspects are available in a scientific paper. (via Boing Boing)
