Some people really hate to peel garlic, and look for an easier way. Weird "hacks" tend to go viral, despite the fact that whoever made them look easy is someone who's been doing it that way for years. I never really minded peeling garlic, but when I discovered garlic in a jar, I never looked back. In this video, Adam Ragusea tries out various viral methods of peeling garlic and gives his opinions on whether they are worth it. (via Boing Boing)
You missed the easiest way of all. Go to the store and buy a bottle of already pealed garlic. Dead cheap, dead easy, no fuss, no muss, no clean up, no stinky hands, no dirty bowls, and the remains keep for ever,

Kip, like I said in the commentary, I buy garlic in a jar not only peeled, but chopped, too!
Unfortunately, pre-peeled garlic doesn't keep well once it's opened. Sure is handy though.
I use a rubber tube made for the purpose. Quick and easy peeling.
Full disclosure: I didn't watch this.
I peel garlic all the time.
Didn't know it was an issue. . .
