Can't believe that a majority chose "Sharp Objects". An absolutely dire TV show with so many OTT performances from such a wide range of drama queens, it was almost painful to watch. (I gave up after episode 3). Ditto with the boring mess that was "The Little Drummer Girl". "The Haunting Of Hill House" was good very until the last couple of episodes when it got far too pretentious and disappeared up its own fundament. “The Good Place” was a good idea but, like many US TV comedies, it goes downhill pretty fast because US TV believes more is less. Meanwhile, "Westworld" went the way of "Lost" and "Heroes", vanishing so far up itself that many people think of it as "art".

On the plus side, "Barry", “Babylon Berlin”, Santa Clarita Diet" and "Patriot" were all terrific fun. Even better were "The Americans", "Better Call Saul", the outstanding "“Ozark” and the supreme "Killing Eve" (when we Brits do something right, we really do it perfectly). All of the US TV gurus missed out on the latest series of "Line Of Duty" but what can you expect from a nation that felt it had to do a remake of "The Killing"!!!

In future, I think pundits writing about best TV shows should spend less time checking out shows with more than a score of 8.5 on IMDB (It's run by 15 year old boys who think superheroes are real)

I certainly can't argue with you on any of that, because I haven't seen any of those shows. I dropped cable this year, since I was only watching the news.

I'm old and often cranky, so I don't watch the news anymore. But I'm soon to follow you in dumping cable. Happy New Year and thanks for all your great posts which kept me sane in 2018.

A little disappointed that nowhere is
Feud - the FX series on Joan Crawford &
Bette Davis to be found. . .
