Snopes says this article goes back to 200 and has circulated quite a bit since then. They say it's technically true. However, follow-up articles clarified that there were a number of reasons for the closure, the biggest being insurance, another being the church had been without leadership for some time. From what Snopes says, it sounds to me like a reporter for the paper picked up on some random off the cuff comments from the acting minister and headlined them. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/church-food-bank-closed/
