There are a few criteria I use to judge every McCarthy story to determine if it is on a quest for the truth, or passing on old Soviet Union propaganda.
1. Does the article acknowledge that Joe had 2 lists, and everyone on the second list was arrested?
2. Does the article state that the CIA fabricated a dossier to throw Joe off before the Army hearings?
3. Does the article state that only one journalist at the Wheeling speech reported the 205 number, no other reporters in a room filled with reporters did, and that one journalist later stated under oath he wasn't even there?

The CIA did not call it "the McCarthy Era", "the Red Scare". they called it THE CIA VS JOE McCARTHY FIGHT.

Since 2004 the CIA has posted the true story in their magazine STUDIES IN INTELLIGENCE. yet not one single publication in America dares report the story. The story isn't about Joe, it's about the only secret spy agency we ever had- The Pond. It is not classified. You can search it STUDIES IN INTELLIGENCE THE POND. The last 1/3 of the article is about Joe, but he emerges a minor figure. https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/csi-publications/csi-studies/studies/vol48no3/article07.html

The facts are out there, and are far more fascinating than the old Soviet propaganda.
