Why Everything Sucks

Craig Ferguson has it down. Youth is valued, youth is stupid, and therefore stupidity is valued. Don't get me wrong, young people are wonderful… but so are old people. (via reddit)

Craig Ferguson figured it out in 2009 (the date of the clip - I saw it 'live')... and Jimmy Fallon has been beating Craig in the ratings most of the time since. Because Jimmy figured it out too, but he didn't say it, he just used it to determine the direction of his show.

There are other reasons stupidity is valued. One important thing being that advertisers prefer media targeted toward the stupid... they're better customers, none of that critical judgment getting in the way of buying.

Young people are wonderful... and most of them are stupid. But when you break down what often passes for wisdom, you realize that old people aren't that much different. Me, I'm "old enough to know better" and the stupidest thing I do is not know when to shut up. Like here.
