Mutiny on the Bounty seems like a classic movie to us now, but when it was first released in 1962, it was a box office flop. Oh, people went to see it, and it ranked fifth among all movies that year. But the cost to make it was so high that it couldn't turn a profit. Critics were divided on Marlon Brando's portrayal of Fletcher Christian, with some lauding the performance while others became tired of Brando's overacting.
