My kids skipped buying textbooks for the vast majority of their classes, but we still ended up with a carload after graduation, and schools don't even bother facilitating the sale of used books anymore. Libraries don't want them, either. (via Bored Panda)

If the schools facilitated passing the books to the next batch of students they would have to pay the teachers (who derive some of their income from selling each class their book), mo money.
