In this clip from 1978, U2 had just changed the name of their band from The Hype and won the Irish "Pop Group '78" talent contest. Bono and Adam Clayton were 18 and The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. were only 16 here. They were not great compared to what they would soon become, but they were really good for their age and had the confidence to take it all the way.
