I had just gotten out of high school the summer before, and got my first 'real' job as a part-time overnight stock clerk at the local A&P in the spring of '73 while I attended college. Once the store closed at midnight, the team lead would turn on the in-store PA system and set up a radio with its speaker by the microphone so we could listen to music like this while we worked. Even now, when I hear that song, my mind goes back to that old grocery store.
Yeah, I well remember seeing the Eagles in 1977. I was a bit upset that the tickets were $8, which was outrageous as other concerts were $5. Fast forward to 1994, and their comeback tour sold tickets for $80! I did not go to that one. I see now that they are coming to Kentucky this fall, and tickets start at $192.
No need for apologies, Miss C. They're good memories of a better, simpler time when I was still young, making union scale ($4.00/hour back when minimum wage was only about $1.75), full of spit and vinegar, and the whole world was out there before me.
I just got an invite to my 60th(actually 61st because it should have been last year) high school reunion. In September I'll catch Keith Richards until he pulls ahead in December. I can just look back at my great accomplishments like... like... uh....

My apologies, Bill.
Steely Dan is opening for the Eagles on their farewell tour. If I had the money - I'd go just to see them.
Live concerts are not for the hoi palloi anymore, you need a Dunn & Bradstreet rating and 2nd mortgage to get in line.
Holy crap that was 50 freakin years ago!!!! What the hell happened to my youth? Love Steely Dan
Man, I keep seeing things like this and realising how much time has passed. Feeling old :P
What really hit home was someone pointing out we are 50 years from the end of the vietnam war and 16 years from the centenary of the start of WW2.
