All through my childhood, my parents told me to use this for cleaning something. I told my kids as well. But we never had any around the house. (via Bored Panda)

I don't think parents give that advice because it is more effective (as in, takes less time) than a cleaning product. Quite the opposite...
Back in the day there was very little choice of cleaning agent.
They hadn't bottled Essence of Mothers Spit yet.
