Alice's Restaurant Massacre Illustrated

Arlo Guthrie's 1967 saga about how he evaded the Vietnam draft has become a Thanksgiving classic, which is special because we don't have many Thanksgiving songs. This version has illustrations by  Andrew Colunga for the story, so that it's like a shorter and more musical version of the movie. (via Nag on the Lake)

Love this song and its sentiments, but the "faggots" line doesn't stand the test of time.

Mr. Guthrie change that line over the years. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he used a line from Seinfeld: "They'll think you're gay—not that there's anything wrong with that." About 5 years ago, Guthrie used the line "They'll think they're trying to get married in some parts of Kentucky," referring to the controversy of the time regarding county clerk Kim Davis.

Also of note here, Alice Brock (the Alice in the song) wrote a book titled "How to Massage Your Cat" in 1985. A review in Google Books says "As kitty gift books go, this is "the best, funniest, most inspiring" of them all, according to the Village Voice..."
