Professional waiters in paris participate in a race to see who can get to the finish line without spilling the drink they are serving. This one was from 1949. (via Nag on the Lake)
Run for the Rose is the same race. Waiters and Waitresses run down the street, an obstacle course, with a tray of filled wine glasses measured to the 1/10th of an ounce. The person getting to the finish line first with the least amount spillage wins some bucks.

I wonder if this is the race from where the Kentucky Derby Festival got its run for the Rosé each year?
Ha! I'll have to use that joke in May!
