Glove and Boots and Chris Hadfield
Surely you remember when Colonel Chris Hadfield performed David Bowie's "Space Oddity" aboard the ISS a few years ago.
In this followup version, Mario and Fafa join in the singing, but also revisit some of Hadfield's other videos from space, which they illustrate with new lyrics to the old song. (via Geeks Are Sexy)

This Island Earth
The 1955 science fiction movie This Island Earth was lauded by critics when it was new, but was later featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Michael J. Nelson said that This Island Earth was chosen to mock because, he felt, "nothing really happens" and "it violates all the rules of classical drama". Kevin Murphy added that the film had many elements that the writing crew liked, such as "A hero who's a big-chinned white-guy scientist with a deep voice. A wormy sidekick guy. Huge-foreheaded aliens who nobody can quite figure out are aliens – there's just 'something different about them'. And a couple of rubber monsters who die on their own without the hero ever doing anything."Yet This Island Earth still has a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I guess you can say it was good compared to the other sci-fi films of its time. Anyway, it has become a classic of its genre.
Cold Weather Demonstrations in Yakutsk
The point where the Fahrenheit and Centigrade temperature scales meet is -40. Once you get that cold, a degree here or there makes little difference because you do not want to be out in it. Winter is a lot colder than that in Yakutsk, the coldest city in the world. Yakutsk is where cold weather is a way of life. If your car isn't in a garage, you leave it running all the time. You learn early how to dress for the weather. And when you want to impress people, you do some crazy experiments to show how fast things will freeze.
Kiun B has a bunch of videos about living in Yakutsk, the cold weather, and her Sakha culture.

Oblivious
One of the more important things to learn in life is how to recognize an opportunity when it appears, and jump on it. This guy has a ways to go. A comic from Cody Miller at Codes Comics. (via Geeks Are Sexy)
Lion Cubs and the New Thing
Nala and Simba don't know what this thing is, so the best course of action is to smack it and hiss at it. Of course. "This thing" is a remote control car with a GoPro camera attached, which photographer Chris Bray knows is the safest way to get up close and personal with the King of Beasts. Mama lion and the third cub never showed much interest. This was recorded in Kenya. (via Tastefully Offensive)

This Truck has been Greatly Modified
In Alaska, you may have some special needs that you need a special pickup truck for. Instead of buying a whole new vehicle, there's usually a way to make what you need. Now, This particular design must have a purpose. After posting this elsewhere, people have informed me that this is a truck for launching a seaplane. I'm not up on how the modifications help in that purpose, but I'll take your word for it. (via Digg)
Foxes Enjoy Their Remote Control Car
The foxes at Save A Fox rescue in Minnesota got a wonderful toy for Christmas: a new remote control car! There's a bonus for us in that the car is equipped with a rear-facing camera so we can watch them chase it. That's a sure path to fox fitness. But what would they do if they caught it? Turns out that the car, once stopped, doesn't quite resemble a real animal, and it makes funny noises, so they don't seize it. It's still the best toy ever! (via Metafilter)
