Old folks lament that young folks don't know how to hold a regular conversation with other people, but that nothing new. This episode of I Love Lucy was way back in the 1950s (that will become evident), and people had the same problem back then. We had TV to avoid talking the same way people use phones today to avoid interacting with each other. At some point they give up and listen to the radio, and find that Ricky knows more about American history than anyone. I'm not surprised. He obviously studied for the US citizenship test.

We used to get that show over here in Foreignland, but it was more my parents that watched it.
The calendar is fuzzy but seems about the same time as The High Chaparral was on ... that show was LOVED by my then 14 year old sister, so much so that when our dog had puppies, a couple of them were named Victoria and Manolito.
Shouldn't laugh, but our dog was a Dalmatian, and if you go back to that town these days, over 50 years later, there are sort of white dogs with sort of black spots ... diluted for sure, but you know what their bloodline is.
