Every country is the star in their own story. England paints the British Empire as a benign international outreach. No one else does. Germany dreads the entire class. And America is busy trying to be exceptional. To get a real historical narrative, you need to take world history, or take a class in another country, or do your own outside reading, meaning outside your media bubble.
