Vampire Brought Back to Life

A couple of years ago a 17th-century grave unearthed in Poland that found to be explicitly rigged to prevent a vampire from coming back to life. The burial of a young woman saw her foot shackled and a sickle placed across her neck, ready to cut upon the slightest raising of her head.

But those efforts were eventually proved to be in vain. In the last two years, she has risen from her grave, with the help of archaeologists, and her face has been brought back to life by forensic artists. While her name has been lost, she is called Zosia by locals and scientists. (via Boing Boing) https://boingboing.net/2024/11/04/this-is-the-real-face-of-a-400-year-old-vampire.html

Back then they knew how to handle people who acted weird or eccentric. No laws or institutions, peer pressure put the fear of god in them. Shape up or burn at the stake.
Nobody wants to pay for jails, even up until a few hundred years ago in England any infraction was a death penalty until the minor stuff perps could be shipped to the Americas or Australia.
