How We Learned That Water Isn't An Element



Once upon a time, the "elements" were considered to be earth, air, fire, and water. Eventually, scientists learned about atoms and molecules, and the definition of an element became a material made of single atoms that couldn't be further divided. But defining such materials was difficult, and water was still considered an element until, well, the stuff in this video. (via Laughing Squid)
