In 1993, Cassandra Peterson was riding high after the movie Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. She and John Paragon wrote a sitcom pilot called The Elvira Show. It was about Elvira moving in with her aunt Minerva (Katherine Helmond) in Manhattan, Kansas, and trying to blend in with the locals, sort of like The Munsters. They also had a younger niece and a talking cat. Everyone at CBS agreed the pilot was funny, but Howard Stringer declared "We can't have tits like that on CBS!" and the show wasn't picked up. Howard, you prude.
CBS might not "have tits like that" on screen, but they had at least one boob.
Thank you, Mr Stringer, for saving us from being subjected to that show every week ever since, as I don't see poor ratings cancellation possible.
I had low expectations but that was brilliant.
