The Team Behind Tetris

The new movie Tetris is streaming on Apple TV+. It follows the adventures of Dutch game developer Henk Rogers as he tries to get the rights to the game Tetris from the Soviet Union as it was on the verge of collapse. Eventually he founded the Tetris company with the game's inventor, Alexey Pajitnov. As the film brings their names to a new generation, the real Rogers and Pajitnov (who look as good or even better than the actors who played them) take time to talk to Alyssa Mercante of Kotaku about those early days of video games, the real USSR caper, reaction to the movie, various versions of Tetris, the future of gaming, and a lot more.
