More zipper lunch bags than lunch "boxes". What my other tends to call a "cool bag"
It seems that the importer/distributor had done swipe tests, on the theory that food might come in contact with the inside of the box and then be eaten.
But then later, people did the sort of test where you cut a chunk of vinyl off the bag, dissolve it, and then analyze how much lead is in the solution -- on the theory that children will eat the lunchbag.
Pictures of the bags in question are in an OCregister article: https://www.ocregister.com/2007/09/20/lunch-bags-may-be-tainted/

Recall 56,000 boxes because 3 showed elevated lead levels?
Faster, easier, cheaper to pass out plastic liners.
