(via Fark)I love being told I have an irrational fear of Covid by snowflakes who are afraid of immigrants, vaccinations, LGBT, brown people, powerful women, voting by mail, universal health care, face masks, higher wages, scientists, and going to Starbucks without a gun on their hip.

A gun on their hip, how American !
2 years ago, after my heart operation, my ex-wife was driving me the 110km trip back to my home and we stopped in at a cafe halfway home. I was all weak from 3 weeks in hospital and the operation. Two young men walked into the nearly empty cafe, they were a little bit scruffy and a bit loud. In my weakened state I felt powerless and a bit scared ... normally there would be no problem, I grew up in rough parts of the U.K. and Australia ... but at the time I realised that must be how most women feel when encountering testosterone fuelled 'blokes' behaving badly, or at least noisily.
I guess it is the same feeling some American people have, the need to feel powerful, so they 'beef up' by carrying a gun.
Here in New Zealand there is talk about arming the police ... the powers that be say 'no, we won't do it', but with the gangs and other crims using guns more and more, even after our gun amnesty, I reckon it is only a time.
And if I am going to be pulled over for speeding by a cop with a gun ... well, with my mouth the way it is, I'd better be packing too !
