When Chad Mitchell left the Chad Mitchell Trio, they changed the name to The Mitchell Trio, and replaced Chad with a very young John Denver. This performance is from 1966, and teh lyrics to the song are here. I was surprised -or maybe not- at the number of YouTube commenters who thought this was a serious tribute to the Klan instead of satire. (via a comment at Fark)

I knew the song; in fact, I think I've got the vinyl album that it's on around here somewhere — but I was not aware that ANYONE would think it was a serious tribute to the Klan.
