Asymmetrical Polarization

People who really try to avoid thinking about politics too much often say that "Both sides are awful," or Both sides are too extreme." Journalists end up giving credence to nonsense in the name of being fair. Sure, extremism is worse than its ever been, but it's the Republicans who moved. Some people say that "both sides must get together to solve our problems." But how can they, when they cannot even agree on what our problems are? (via Jason Kottke)
