Socialism is an idealistic system. Communism is a take off from that system but it still morphed onto where there are those on the top that glean the riches and those below who still had to work hard for the little share they got. Just like all the other isms.

Yeah, I'm coming to the point where I think the philosophies behind many (not all) economic systems are pretty valid and workable in theory, then in reality become degraded by human greed. They only work when you have at least some people with ethics running them. Therefore, the safest way is to have dispersed power, either by democracy or by cooperatives. But that dispersed power has to be actively protected in any system.

Bingo. Except I'd change Human Greed to Human Nature as greed covers a lot of things - money, power, thy neighbor's wife, etc.

I have often said that governments should be run by a rotating committee of 10 to 12 elected people, the rotating bit means that any one dominant one gets voted off (before he or she can start to foster a regal domain or wantonly start wars to feed his, or her, ego, or to distract from previous ..... OH, JUST GET RID OF HIM FFS, BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE, NOBODY IS GOING TO JUDGE YOU, WE ARE ALL SUFFERING BECAUSE OF HIM ... and ... YOU THINK 1929 WAS BAD ? YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CRAPOLA HE IS BRINGING. Do it, the world will thank you.

The only difference between socialism and communism is you get to decide where to work.
No honestly socialism only works and it works great if you have a closed environment. It works for the Amish because they have a closed community. You have to pledge to get in and you can get kicked out if you don't act up to standards.
