Brainstorm or Green Needle?
The question in the title sounds like we are going to name a new superhero. No, this is another audio illusion that might freak you out a bit. A toy says "brainstorm." Or maybe it says "green needle." You need to decide which one it is before you play the video. Then play it again, thinking about the other option. Keep your finger on the replay button (bottom left on the video), and you'll find that this toy says what you expect it to say, even if you change your mind between plays. A similar illusion happens in the theme to the popular US-ported Anime Speed Racer. There's this bit where it talks about when there's "dangerous work to do;" because "you bet your life Speed Racer comes to see it through."
Well - just as they say "to do" there's a couple of cars colliding and it masks the sound perfectly. There are people who have heard the theme many many times, and swear it says "dangerous work(pause) you bet your life..."
For the life of me, I have no idea why I knew, as a child, that it said "dangerous work to do," other than, the completion of the rhyme, "comes to see it through." But I was always sure of it, and I always heard it.
Until I realized I could not hear it. I could let the car collision completely mask the words. That was freaky. I imagine this is similar.
