CBO estimates monthly health insurance premium for a single 64-year-old who makes $26,500 would jump more than 700% (from $1,700 to $14,600) pic.twitter.com/W59DHCfagv— Ted Nesi (@TedNesi) March 13, 2017
The Republican Insurance Plan (RIP) will be hard on the poor, the sick, and the elderly. You better hope your mother can keep her job benefits for a few more years. That's iffy, since it saves employers money to lay off their oldest workers first. Why don't we just enact Medicare for all? Oh yeah, because there's no profit in that.(via Metafilter)

The French Model of Health Care would be great for us
Cradle to Grave one-payer system, like Medicare.
Limited benefits, but complete benefits. For example, it won't pay for a private hospital room, but will get you a bed in a medical ward.
But, there are supplemental policies available on the private market, like Medicare supplements, that will pay above and beyond the Government system, pays for things like private rooms.
Sounds good to me! And reassuring, since my older daughter is moving to France.
