Thieves Work Out to Prepare for Crimes
If you're going to be breaking into houses, lifting large bags of cash at the bank, or running from the police, you've got to be in shape! It take training to be a thief! Hissing 'Panda Cat' Goes From Scared To Cuddlebug
When most people go to a shelter to adopt a cat, they select one who is friendly, cuddly, and relatively well-behaved. That's bad for the "problem cats": ferals, strays, sick and injured cats, and those rescued from abusive situations. These cats don't trust humans, and can't compete with other cats. That's where foster homes come in, the folks who spend their time socializing problem cats ...just to send them away to a permanent home when they've succeeded. Jali Henry is one of those cat foster moms, who bond with cats and then send them on their way to make room for another problem cat. Maneuvers: An Experimental Stop-Motion Film
You start to watch this film, and you'll say, "Hey! This isn't stop-motion animation! This is a stunt skiing video!" Why not both? The guys are doing their thing in real time, but the environment around them animates to fill their need for speed -and height! Let me count the ways...
1. We are in the middle a pandemic surge. Coming to work sick, particularly as a server, is very dangerous.
2. Brianne didn't come in sick out of loyalty; she came in sick because she wants to keep her job and pay the rent. But I suppose desperation makes our country strong.
3. Josh Mandel is running for a US Senate seat from Ohio. In this Tweet, he makes it clear that he doesn't know what he's doing. Not only is he oblivious to both the plight of service workers AND the pandemic, he also sabotaged a local business with a single Tweet.

What I Learned From My Public Freakout Cameo
She recorded a guy behaving badly in the subway, then posted it on reddit. You might expect that this is a story of how she got raked over the coals for, well, posting on reddit, which happens a lot. But this is different, and the analysis is quite interesting. (via Digg)
Elon Musk's Not-a-Robot
At Tesla's AI Day event on Thursday, Elon Musk publicly unveiled his concept for a Tesla robot that one day will perform the laborious tasks that humans don't want to do. He didn't unveil a robot, just a concept for a robot.
Musk’s “robot” was just a person dancing around in a skintight full-body suit, but he promises that his electric car company really is working on something. And he really wants you to believe him this time.
“The Tesla bot will be real,” Musk said emphatically, trying to usher his fake robot off-stage on Thursday.
If you've read this far, you can watch the first couple of minutes of the video and skip the rest. While some of Musk's ideas have gotten off the ground, like Tesla electric cars and his Not a Flamethrower flamethrower, other ideas went to way of the dodo, like the Loop and the Cybertruck. To be honest, Thursday's pronouncement has happened before, as technologists envision the future of robots performing back-breaking labor so that humans can enjoy more free time. Gizmodo looks back at the same prediction happening in 1967, as well as a roundup of how Musk's presentation was covered elsewhere.

Flossing Calendar
While this may seem horrifying to you, I've been there, and I can tell you what happens. In your thirties, when you can finally afford to see a dentist, you need a bunch of fillings. In your forties, those filled teeth need crowns. In your fifties and sixties, those crowns fall off and you need implants.
It doesn't matter when you floss, as long as you floss. So my advice is to avoid making your toothbrushing routine more onerous and do it at your desk. While you are goofing off and reading internet stuff or watching TV, pull out the dental floss you keep in your drawer or in the end table and floss them. Make it a habit. The word "jumbo," meaning big, didn't exist before the elephant named Jumbo. He was a star in his day, although he did not live the kind of life an elephant should.
