Look for the Helpers: 10 Heroes of the Boston Marathon Tragedy

In the midst of the carnage following the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon yesterday, people came together to do what they could, even when it put them in danger. Some were doing their jobs, some had specific skills to volunteer, and others just offered what they could to help out. Here are ten examples of the good to take the edge off the horrifyingly bad, in an article I wrote for mental_floss.

30 People Backflip on Skis -Together

Thirty freestyle athletes hold hands, ski, and do a backflip, mostly at the same time. How this happened without anyone breaking something, I can't understand. The friends pulled this off Sunday at Mont Saint-Sauveur in Quebec. See more pictures of the stunt at imgur. Read more about it at at reddit. (Thanks, Terrence!)

Star Trek Into Dumbness

Making a Star Trek parody can get a little complicated when just about all the costumes you can find are red shirts. Even worse when the guys wearing them know what that means. From Sneaky Zebra. (Thanks, Nick!)

Law & Order's Fakest Websites

While you're watching a life-and-death moment on a police drama, suddenly they'll announce some clue found on FaceUnion, which breaks your suspension of disbelief and makes you giggle. Slackstory, which constantly cranks out supercuts, recently did one on fake websites on TV. However, there is one TV series that racked up more fake internet sites than all of the others. Law & Oder: SVU dramatizes stories of sex crimes and child abuse, which often involve evidence gleaned from the internet. It and its sibling shows under the Law & Order umbrella have named so many fake websites that Slackstory made a supercut of fake websites dedicated to those shows alone. (Thanks, Nick!)

My Dubstep Kitchen

Sawyer Hartman made this video starring Mystery Guitar Man in which kitchen sounds are rearranged into a batboy rhythm. The funky percussion still doesn't distract anyone from the fact that this guy goes all the way downstairs and waits for a coffeemaker to heat up and produce a cup of plain hot water for him to drink.
