The Airwalk

The duo known as Shuffle Pack demonstrate the dance called the airwalk. It's darned cool when they get to it, as they appear to float in the air slightly above ground level. Ignore the reference to a "stranger;" they do that all the time. Shuffle Pack consists of 14-year-old British twin brothers Alex and Alister, so they are always in tune with each other.

The dance itself is an illusion. What's happening here is a classic example of misdirection, like a magician would use. Your eye is drawn to the part of the dance step that does not touch the ground, while the dancer's weight is supported by the other foot at that time. Their tutorials make it look easy, but like the moon walk, the final appearance depends on how smoothly you pull it off. They say that this will really strain your leg muscles if you do it for more than a few seconds at a time.

Some People Would Just Rather Stay At Home

Some people don't get out of the house much because they suffer from depression, loneliness, social anxiety, or they don't have the means to go anywhere. And then there are those who are fine but they just prefer to stay home. There's nothing wrong with that, and this video explains what's going on their heads.

But this is a short video, and only looks at people who have friends and social opportunities and live alone. If you live with friends or family, it's likely you have all the social interaction you need. You might also have little control and no peace and quiet, or maybe you have both. While I loved the challenge and chaos of raising a family, I also appreciate the peace and quiet of living alone, not to mention the freedom to make my own schedule and cover a room with a project whenever I want to. How a TV Works, in Slow Motion

Gavin Free, one of the Slow Mo Guys has an 85-inch TV in his house! That implies that he has a large TV room, and from there you can imagine how well viral videos pay. Anyway, he and Dan are going to show us how television sets work, using different kinds of TVs and their mega-fast cameras so we can see thousands of frames for every video frame on the television device, whether its the big LCD set, a CRT, or an iPhone. You're not hallucinating- Gav and Dan borrowed a camera to film at 380,000 frames per second to make this video. Oh yeah, it turns out that the TV was given to him for this project. Nice perks with that job! (via Geeks Are Sexy)

An Honest Trailer for Wake Up Dead Man

The third installment of the Knives Out series, Wake Up Dead Man, assures us that Daniel Craig has landed a steady job after quitting the 007 movies. Here he reprises his role as detective Benoit Blanc solving a mystery by talking his way through it, just like the classic whodunits we've seen so many times.

It's not really a spoiler to reveal that Blanc solved the murder mystery. That's pretty much a given. But beware that this Honest Trailer reveals whodunit right away, before they even introduce the many suspects. If you are determined to see the movie without knowing who the killer is, then rest assured that Screen Junkies enjoyed Wake Up Dead Man, although they do poke fun at its over-the-top characterizations.

What Jack Said

Embed from Getty Images

The House Judiciary Committee released an eight-hour video of special prosecutor Jack Smith's closed-door deposition earlier this month, along with the 255-page transcript. The timing of the release on New Year's Eve raises some questions. Did they hope this would fly under the radar because of the holiday? Or did they suspect that people would have time on their hands because they aren't working on a holiday?

If you don't want to spend time on all of it, here are highlights from NBC, ABC, NPR, and CNN. Your favorite news source will have something on it eventually. There are also discussions at Fark and reddit, not to mention the one under the YouTube video.
