One Second in Every Nation

Graham Hughes set out in 2009 to visit every country in the world without flying. By the end of 2012, he'd visit 201 countries and a couple dozen territories. You can find out more about the journey at the website The Oddysey Expedition. Meanwhile, here's the short travelogue, in which you will see one second from every country. (via b3ta)

First Driving Lesson

A Korean woman takes her first driving lesson. From the camera setup, this appears to be a professional teacher, who, in my opinion, is particularly restrained when he starts yelling just seconds into the lesson. This makes me feel much better about my teenage driving student, who has yet to fail this badly. Knock wood. (via Daily Picks and Flicks)

Orchids: Masters of Plant Pareidolia

Pareidolia is the tendency to see familiar or significant images in places where none is intended. Classic examples are sightings of Jesus or the Virgin Mary in wood grain or the pastime of looking for shapes in clouds. Pareidolia is encouraged in the Rorschach inkblot test. There are plenty of examples in the natural world, and orchids are particularly notable for looking like something else. See what I mean in this article I posted at mental_floss.

Riley Brown tries her best to continue playing the song, despite an overly needy cat. I think I know the problem: she's in the bathroom for the acoustics, and cats know that when you sit on the toilet, you have nothing better to do than pet a cat. It's not the first time this has happened. (via Tastefully Offensive)

Telling Daddy Off

Adorable Yerin Park loves running from daddy when he makes those sounds …up to a point. That point was caught on camera, when she tells him off in baby talk. It only lasts for a minute, though, and the fun is on again. She was around 15 months old at the time. (via Daily Picks and Flicks)
